CTM Staff Accountant Jennifer Barton has found a new home – both literally and figuratively. Jen, a DePaul University graduate with a B.S. in Accounting and Management Information Systems, joined CTM as a part-time accountant a little more than a year ago after working downtown for a staffing and recruiting firm.
From the start, Jen felt an immediate connection with her CTM coworkers. She also quickly picked up her new job functions, welcoming the real life application of the accounting principles she learned at school.
Jen appreciates the work/life balance afforded her by her new position at CTM. She is able to manage her job while raising her three-year-old son (he’ll be four this summer). And on occasion, Jen is able to work from home. This flexibility has made it very easy for Jen to enjoy her job as well as her family. Jen was so pleased with her new work environment and the culture at the firm, that she nominated CTM for the Daily Herald Business Ledger’s Annual Awards for Business Excellence (AABE’s). Because of her submission, CTM won this award.
And while Jen feels “at home” at the office, she also recently purchased a new home in Wauconda, IL. Jen, her partner Rob, their son Ryan and cat named Lucy will be moving into their new home this Spring. They look forward to spending time with other family members who live close by and enjoying all kinds of outdoor activities, especially anything having to do with water.
Jen grew up not far from Wauconda in Long Grove, IL. At six years old, she began riding horses, and she rode all through college. She even owned a beautiful black horse named Indigo. Although she no longer rides, Jen is into arts and crafts or baking. Her specialty is cake pops!
