Overview

CTM Partner Scott P. Weingart’s competitive nature drives him both on and off the tennis court.  Scott strives to win, and helping his clients attain their financial goals is a challenge he is always ready to take on. His clients range from franchised business owners to real estate developers to venture capitalists.  He provides many advisory services, such as structuring and setting up business entities, negotiating for the purchase/sale of a business or making financial forecasts, but he is at the top of his game when developing customized tax planning strategies for clients.

Professional Affiliations

As a Tax Specialist, Scott regularly authors analytial articles and gives insightful presentations explaining the latest changes to state and federal tax laws and the impact these changes may have on individuals and business owners.

Scott is a member of the National Franchise Consultants & Accountants, an alliance of public accounting firms specializing in franchise accounting for McDonald’s Owner/Operators. In addition, he is member of the Keshet Board of Trustees. Keshet is a nonprofit organization, serving individuals with developmental/intellectual disabilities. He is also a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Illinois CPA Society, American Bar Association, Illinois State Bar Association and the Chicago Bar Association.

Education

He obtained a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, College of Business as well as a Juris Doctor from the University of Illinois – College of Law.

Personal Interests

Scott and his wife, Andrea live in Deerfield, Illinois with their mini golden doodle.  Their oldest son, Jared graduated from medical school at Florida International University.  He finished his fourth year of residency at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Anesthesiology, and will be participating in a 2024 fellowship at UPMC in pain management.  Their youngest son Alec graduated from Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law in Chicago and is an associate at Mayer Brown LLP, specializing in alternative energy financing. Scott is passionate about tennis, but he also enjoys many other activities, including golf, hiking, skiing (snow, water and cross country) and traveling around the world.
