Overview

CTM Managing Partner Steven Edelheit is a devoted family man who takes pride in his family’s accomplishments.  Steve brings the same enthusiasm and dedication to his client relationships and wants nothing more than to see them thrive in their personal and professional endeavors. He has more than 25 years of experience providing consulting and accounting services to small and mid-sized businesses across the country.

His practice includes compilations, reviews, business valuations, buy-sell agreements, purchase/sale of business, business consulting, succession planning, management advisory services, accounting systems design and implementation, and representation before the IRS and other governmental agencies.

Business Philosophy

Steve genuinely enjoys getting to know his clients.  He takes the time to learn their personal preferences, style of communication and temperament.  By connecting with clients in this way, he is able to properly advise them and help them make smart business decisions.

Professional Affiliations

Steve is actively involved in a variety of networking, professional and charitable organizations.  He is a Director for the Business Executives Association of Chicago, which fosters business relationships among members in mutually exclusive industries. He also serves as Treasurer of Experience the Game, a non-profit organization that gives underprivileged children an opportunity to experience professional sporting events.  Steve is in his second term serving as President of the National Franchise Consultants & Accountants, an alliance of public accounting firms specializing in franchise accounting for McDonald’s Owner/Operators.  He is also a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Illinois CPA Society (where he previously sat on the Small Practice Advisory Task Force committee) and the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts.

Education

Steve earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 1988, and received his CPA certificate in 1990.  In 2005, he became a Certified Valuation Analyst, receiving his certificate from the National Association of Certified Valuation.

Personal Interests

Steve’s wife Loren, has been running a successful chocolate confections business since 1989.  They live in Buffalo Grove, Illinois, and have three children, Zachary, Justin and Taylor.  Zachary followed in his father’s footsteps, receiving a Master’s Degree in Accounting from Northern Illinois University.  Justin graduated from Southern Illinois University with a degree in Therapeutic Recreation, and Taylor is a senior at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
