Second Stimulus Check May Be a Debit Card

CTM Tax Team

debit card

The Treasury Department and the IRS began issuing a second round of stimulus payments to millions of taxpayers in early January 2021.  While many people received direct deposits in their bank accounts, about eight million people are expected to receive Economic Impact Payment (EIP) cards.  These prepaid debit cards, issued by MetaBank®, N.A., may be used anywhere Visa Debit Cards are accepted.

If you haven’t already received your EIP and you are eligible, check Get My Payment on IRS.gov to see when it was mailed.  It may have been sent as a paper check or it may be a debit card!
